Keith

Keith came out to California from Long Island, New York, right after high school, expecting a paid job at a relative's care home near Costa Mesa. The job turned out to be an internship, but the work turned out to be his calling. More than forty years later, he has built a career caring for older adults in private homes and large estates, often for prominent families and public figures who needed both skilled care and complete discretion. He has supported clients living with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and the effects of stroke, and he has stayed with families through the hardest stretches, including serving as the sole caregiver for one client up until his passing. What Keith values most is what he learns from the people he cares for. He describes himself first as a listener, and over the years he has cared for economists, professors, physicians, and business leaders whose stories stayed with him. The lesson he took from all of them, he says, is "patience, persistence, and leading with compassion and kindness." He stays calm in a crisis and keeps a steady, organized household, believing that continuity and trust are what make this work succeed. When he is not on an assignment, he enjoys home improvement and gardening, finding that the same attention to detail he brings to a living space keeps him grounded and ready for the next family.
